MetroPorter ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the MetroPorter platform and website.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you register, submit a partner enquiry, or use the MetroPorter platform. This includes: • Name, email address, and phone number • Company or carrier name and operating location • Parcel dispatch and delivery details (origin, destination, parcel type, weight) • Device information and IP address when you access our platform • Location data from carriers while a relay is active (with explicit consent)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: • Operate, maintain, and improve the MetroPorter platform • Process dispatches, coordinate relay chains, and facilitate M-Pesa payouts • Send you transactional notifications (handoff confirmations, OTP codes, delivery updates) • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse on the platform • Comply with legal obligations under Kenyan law
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances: • With carriers in the relay chain — only the information necessary to complete a specific delivery leg (pickup location, parcel ID, drop-off point) • With payment processors (M-Pesa / Safaricom) to facilitate carrier payouts • With service providers who assist us in operating the platform (hosting, analytics, email delivery) under strict confidentiality agreements • When required by law, court order, or government authority in Kenya
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Dispatch and delivery records are retained for a minimum of 3 years to comply with Kenyan commercial and tax regulations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing partner@metroporters.com.
5. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong password and to notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.
6. Cookies and Tracking
The MetroPorter website uses minimal cookies for session management and basic analytics. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features of the platform may not function correctly without them.
7. Your Rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you • Request correction of inaccurate data • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements) • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) To exercise any of these rights, contact us at partner@metroporters.com.
